Rafael began playing tennis at age four, guided by another uncle, Toni Nadal, who remained his coach on the professional tour.
Rafael Nadal started his professional carrier in 2001. Previously he had appeared in only one Grand Slam tournament as a junior competitor when he reached the semifinals at the Wimbledon championships.
Nadal became the youngest player, with just 18 years 6 months in the history of the international team competition to win a singles match for a country.
In 2005, Rafael Nadal set a record for a teenage male player by winning 11 tournaments, among others Roland Garros. Following year, Spanish player won five tournaments on the ATP tour.
In 2007 Nadal extended his victories on clay surfaces to a record 81 consecutive matches before losing to Federer on May 20 in the final of the ATP Masters Series Hamburg (Germany).
In 2009, Rafael Nadal won his first Australian Open. He won again in 2010, French Open. In September that same year, he won his first U.S. Open and completed a career Grand Slam by having won all four of the slam’s component tournaments.
In 2011, Spanish tennis star won his sixth career French Open title, but he lost the next three consecutive Grand Slam finals to Novak Djokovic. He returned in the game by winning in the 2012 French Open final, which he played with Novak Djokovic. He added another French title in 2013, becoming the first man to win the same Grand Slam singles event eight times, and in the same year, he won a second career U.S. Open singles championship. In 2014 he won a ninth French Open championship.
Nadal was plagued by injuries throughout the remainder of the 2014 season, and he struggled to recover his form in 2015. He didn’t win any Grand Slam that year, and in 2016 his best performance at a Grand Slam was just a fourth-round elimination at the U.S. Open.
After a long time, he gets to a Grand Slam final at the 2017 Australian Open, where he lost a match to Roger Federer. But at the same year, he won a 10th career French Open championship. Three months later he won his third U.S. Open singles title.
He is continuing his great carrier path even in 2018. About his private life, there is not much to know, except that he is in a long-term relationship, lasting for over a decade, with Spanish beauty Xisca Perello.
