Daenerys Targaryen, or Mother of Dragons is a fictional character in George R. R. Martin’s series of novels named A Song of Ice and Fire, and the television adaptation of novels named Game of Thrones.
One of the main character and most popular of all is portrayed by English acting star Emilia Clarke.
Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi is represented as a young woman living in Essos across the Narrow Sea, living a life with her violent brother Viserys. Then she got married to Dothraki horselord Khal Drogo, in exchange for an army for Viserys which is to return to Westeros and recapture the Iron Throne. But soon her brother dies due to his insatiability, and Daenerys becomes a confident and strong woman. After she loses her husband and unborn child, she becomes Mother of Dragons, three of them who hatches from eggs.
Soon she represents herself as a powerful woman and heads to the Westeros, to conquer the Seven Kingdoms.
Over seven seasons Mother of Dragons grows stronger and stronger, destroying everyone who crosses her path. Currently, it is filming eight seasons of this popular show, and it remains to see will Khaleesi succeed on her way to the throne of the Seven Kingdoms, and will her love for Jon Snow live.
For the performance of Mother of Dragons, actress Emilia Clarke received many honors and nominations. She received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the roll in this popular HBO series in 2013, 2015, and 2016. She has also earned numerous other nominations and accolades for her acting role.
Did you know?
Although Daenerys doesn’t give birth to dragons in the traditional sense, she did bring them back into the world after they were thought to be extinct. Daenerys walked through Khal Drogo’s funeral pyre with three dragon eggs and emerged unscathed with living infant dragons on her shoulder.
